Special flow variables

Special flow variables are reserved for product internal use.

Special variables have a special meaning and purpose when the flow instance is being executed by the flow engine. Special variables are set by the product internally as required and appropriate the flow execution. These special variables are accessible, but cannot be manipulated, for user transformation purposes if needed.

All special variables start and end with an underscore (_) and the actual name of the flow variable is in upper/capital letters.

Some examples of special flow variables are:
  • _FLOWINSTANCE_
  • _FLOWUUID_
  • _WILDCARD_

At any given time, it is possible that more than one flow instance based on a flow definition might be executed by the flow engine. Each flow instance gets its own set of flow variables and their values. In other words, no two flow instances share and manipulate the same set of variables. One flow instances’ variables are not visible to/accessible by another flow instance from the same flow definition.
